Bubby's is hosting its fifth annual noncompetitive Brooklyn Pie Social in Dumbo on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. A prospective entrant writes in amNewYork that she plans to keep it simple with her aunt's apple pie. Others go for originality: Bubby's owner Ron Silver plans a duck and grape mix this year, and an entomologist once brought crunchy cricket pie. For a $15 donation, every baker gets a blue ribbon and five samples; without a pie, donate $25 for the five slices. [amNY]
