In case you couldn’t score a table at Daniel’s reopening on Monday, here are your first interior shots of designer Adam D. Tihany’s makeover. The most impressive touches here are in the lighting: glass light boxes over the balustrades and encircling the dining room, wrought-iron wall sconces modeled after tree branches and matching screens separating the lobby from the bar area, custom chandeliers with porcelain tiles by Bernardaud, a back-lit etched wall in the bar room and a glass façade on the walnut bar. You’ll remember that Apothéke got some of Daniel’s cast-off furniture, now replaced by velvet sofas in the lounge and bar, red leather dining chairs, plus silk wall panels, leather screens, and dark brown carpeting in the dining room. Finally, Boulud himself selected some Velasquez-influenced paintings from the collection of Spanish artist Manolo Valdés.
