Thought the recently added outdoor taco counter was the most exciting sign of expansion at Pinche? Not quite. Manager Allen Ariano tells us that on Mexican Independence Day (September 16), the Nolita taqueria will open its second location in the narrow space at 333 Lafayette Street that used to house Sparky’s. The menu will be true to the original (tacos, burritos, tortas, a quesadilla, nachos, and a mulita), though there may be additions such as Mexican doughnuts, and the décor is similar (a surfboard, tile work, a beaded curtain, and some Virgin Mary icons have already been installed). The main difference: longer hours (7 a.m. to 4 a.m.) and a liquor license that will allow the stand to serve tequilas and margaritas. Pinche isn’t stopping there, either — we’re told they may also open a location in Miami.
