Spa Adds Brunch, But We Still Prefer Corn Dogs With Our Schvitz

When it comes to schvitzing and shoving, nothing beats following up a steam-and-swim at the Wall Street Bath & Spa with a visit to the in-house restaurant for blintzes, beef tongue, lox, borscht, and the like — not to mention those highly potent Baltika beers. Another favorite: The Korean restaurant with outdoor patio at Spa Castle in Queens, plus the concession stand near the solid-gold and LED saunas that sells corn dogs (corn dogs, people!) as well as eggs that are oven-baked for an hour over rock salt. That said, if you don’t want to trek out to College Point, Body by Brooklyn, home of the "massage and martini," has a proposition. On Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., $54 gets you a day’s access to a Turkish steam room, Swedish and Russian saunas, a Jacuzzi, and an arctic cold plunge, plus, in the lounge, your choice of brunch items like eggs Benedict, French toast, blueberry pancakes, a couple of omelettes, various baked goods, and a complimentary bloody mary or mimosa. Truth be told, we’re not about to shell out this kind of money for a frittata when, for pretty much the same price, we can pay the day rate at Wall Street and feast on a rib eye, but hey, it’s good to have options.
