Spanish Chef to Michelin: Go Shove Your Star of Slavery
9/25/08 at 2:05 PM
Catalonian chef Joan Borras has renounced his Michelin star, awarded in 2006. Borras told El Periódico that while "It's the wish of all chefs," after a brush with a brain tumor, "you have to remember the price that has to be paid to keep it ... total slavery, with enormous stress." Agence-France Press couldn't resist noting that the restaurant, Hostal Sant Salvador in northeast Spain, didn't precede a French chef's star rejection: Chef Alain Senderens gave up the three awarded to Lucas Carton in Paris.
