Not-So-Lovely Day

A three-alarm fire on the top floor of 196 Elizabeth Street has temporarily shuttered the ground-floor restaurant, Lovely Day (thankfully there were no serious injuries, according to the Post). Last night a fireman who had cordoned off the block told us that the owner was locking up around 9:30 p.m., and today there’s no response at the restaurant. Fingers crossed it’ll be up and running (and at least some of its neighbors back in their homes) in time for its annual Halloween party.
