Ponying Up

At last night’s Society “supper salon,” Blue Hill cook Kevin Patricio served “snails in the garden” (escargot with buttery bread crumbs and baby vegetables) while Peter Jim Meehan poured contributed cocktails. Perhaps a preview of Pony Trading Co., the collaboration we told you about? [Feed/TONY]
Update: Kevin Patricio clarifies that Jim Meehan wasn't actually at the event (his wife Valerie was pouring his drinks). Once Patricio is off and running with Pony Trading Co. (at the moment, he has funding but is still looking for a space while he works the event circuit), Meehan, if he's involved, will be a friendly consultant rather than a full-time collaborator (Meehan has his hands full with PDT right now). Rather than having a strict Baltimore bent, Patricio says the Pony will offer a "maritime experience" that pays tribute to New York's tradition as "a thriving harbor, not just for trade but also for seafood and oysters." So, here's what we know so far: It'll likely be downtown and there will likely be oysters.
