‘Slow Drink Week’ Finds Cocktail Legends Showing Off Their Scotch Rockets

10/17/08 at 4:15 PM

Audrey Saunders of Pegu Club writes in to tell us that “Slow Drink Week” will start on October 27. Relax, gin guzzlers — that doesn’t mean you have to drink slow. It just means that during a night of their choice, drink spots like PDT, Death & Co., Tailor, Bobo, Dylan Prime, and Huckleberry will offer cocktails made according to the Slow Food ethos, meaning they’ll combine local, seasonal ingredients with sustainably produced spirits. Proceeds from the drinks ($12 and up) go to Slow Food programs that fight malnutrition among Brooklyn and Harlem schoolkids. Best of all, you can see three of mixology’s most highly entertaining legends risk life and limb (or their eyebrows, anyway) during the preview party: Dale DeGroff, Dave Wondrich, and Gary Regan will compete in a Blue Blazer competition, so bring your fire suits!
