Soon There Will Be No Buffets Left to Battle

Last week, when Zach Brooks battled the buffet at Todai along with Crazy Legs Conti and other competitive eaters, he said, “It’s no secret that my dream — my ‘goal in life’ if you will — is to strike fear in the heart of every buffet owner whose establishment I step into.” But he’s a little less glib now that International Food House Buffet (sometimes confused with IHOP), has gone from a $8.95 all-you-can-eat special to $5.95 per pound. Definitely the worst news for midtown gluttons since the loss of Cabana Carioca. Competitive eaters, please — sometimes when you beat the buffet, it’s us who end up losing.
