African Tea Store Expands Into Tribeca

A Zimbabwe-born family is expanding their South Carolina tea shop, Amanzi, into the old Ceci-Cela space on Chambers Street. The store, which is expected to open next Wednesday, is named for a Shona word meaning "water." The store stocks over 200 varieties of tea, as well as faux cocktails and "tea-based frappes, lattes, and cappuccinos." If you have an idea of what those might taste like, you're probably qualified to work there. Amanzi is hiring (call 718-239-9600) now; expect pastries and sandwiches to be served within a month.
