Entrepreneur Goes From Marketing to Meat Market
12/18/08 at 9:10 AM
Better access to locally raised meat is one benefit of our city's burgeoning butcher love. Entrepreneur Jake Dickson, 29, left a career in marketing to learn from slaughterhouses, butchers, and the livestock coordinator at Stone Barns Center. Now he runs Dickson's Farmstand Meats and sources your meat directly from local farmers and personally oversees its butchering at the slaughterhouse. Orders placed online can be picked up at locations in Morningside Heights, Park Slope, the West Village, the Upper West Side, and Union Square. Dickson also sells meat at the Morningside Park and Park Slope Farmers' Markets. [Tasting Table via Mouthing Off/Food & Wine]
