At last night’s premiere of the upcoming HBO documentary, Le Cirque: A Table in Heaven, designer Nicole Miller recalled a near-death experience at the restaurant. “Some editor from Avenue or somebody invited me out to lunch. I've never had any allergies,” said Miller. “My eyes started tearing, I can't breathe, I can't talk. I'm choking, I can't even drink any water. And then the waiter came along and picked up the flowers and I was fine. It was the weirdest thing that ever happened to me.” Miller, who has traveled with the Maccioni family, never told them about the incident. “I don't think I ever mentioned I almost choked to death on their flowers,” she said. She returns to the restaurant frequently in hopes that Mauro will serve her favorite dish: “toast with lard and white truffle. I’ve never seen it on the menu.”
