Will meatpacking rise again?Photo: Via Ralph Hockens
The Standard Hotel opened over the High Line for previews last week, and Eater has an update on the Balazs restaurants hoping to corner traffic off the meatpacking mall come spring. The main event from former Lever House chef Dan Silverman will be a multi-room steakhouse with seating on its rooftop. A beer garden is under construction below, as well as fire pits near the hotel entryway. No word yet on plans for the roof of the hotel itself, but if it’s just trendy enough to pull a crowd from what we once heard a hair-sprayed meatpacking gal call "that Past-iss place," Balazs should be off to a busy start.
