Brooklyn’s CB2 Votes Down Booze for ‘Beautiful Restaurant’
1/8/09 at 9:38 AM
Brooklyn’s Community Board 2 has voted to support the Dumbo resident who sent us a letter protesting the prospect of booze at what was said to be a sandwich shop (the Brooklyn Paper now characterizes it as a trattoria). Owner Dema Baledemic, a former caterer and pizza man in Bensonhurst, pleaded at a meeting last night that he was “trying to create a beautiful restaurant,” but one committee member suspected it would be a “gin mill” since Baledemic was seeking to serve till 2 a.m.: “If you’re not opening a bar, why would you want to stay open so late?” Hmmm. The matter will now be decided by the State Liquor Authority.
