Back in November, we told you that Citymeals-on-Wheels has lost over a million in donations with the fall of Bear Stearns. Since the economy is even worse now, 2009 isn’t looking much better. As party of the Citymeals relief effort, photographer Jan Bartelsman has compiled some grand food porn into a new book called Dining in New York City. There’s some familiar faces — Psilakis, Dufresne — and some well-known dining rooms — Per Se, Gramercy Tavern — but everything looks so good it’s like you’re seeing it anew. The book is $19.95, and Citymeals is throwing a book party and tasting to celebrate and help feed hungry New Yorkers on January 21 at 15 Union Square West. Get your book signed and sample food from Blue Hill, Daniel, Tocqueville, Nobu, and Dévi, among many others. You’ll get a head start at the 6 p.m. Champagne reception, but it’ll cost you $400. Tickets to the general tasting are $250. All proceeds benefit Citymeals on Wheels, which needs $6.42 to make a meal. Buy a ticket and get started.
