Belvedere has followed its “Keys to the City” ads (where the likes of Ken Friedman and Daniel Boulud looked back on their careers and recommended their favorite spots) with new installments featuring David Sarner of the Pink Elephant (he brags of bringing bottle service to the city), Kyky and Unik of Merkato 55 (Kyky recommends you “keep it real” by going to Whole Foods where “there’s beautiful girls”), our own Nur Khan of Rose Bar (“I have a passion for Morrissey Night at Sway,” he admits), and Mark Baker of Mansion, who talks about his (um, fetish?) for “fun and crazy” Russians. The must-watch ad, however, is Jeffrey Chodorow, who goes on again about Bruni’s Kobe Club number.

Hamptons Primer: What’s New, What’s Back, What’s Gone

Every summer, the big names in bottle service play a game of musical chairs, scrambling to put their stamp on the few available club and restaurant spaces in the Hamptons. This year, there were rumors that Pink Elephant would lose its lease (or at least its outdoor patio) at the Capri Hotel; the future of the Star Room was uncertain; and one of Southampton’s bump-and-grind destinations, Stereo, closed their Manhattan location. But breathe easy! Our research indicates that everything turned out mostly fine. Here’s where to pop some very overpriced bubbly by way of celebration.

Tenjune Doorman Aalex Julian Nixes Kevin Connolly's Entourage

This weekend, meatpacking club Tenjune will be an after-party spot for movies being shown at the Tribeca Film Festival. One person who knows to expect guests like Mariah Carey, John Cusack, and Hilary Duff is doorman Aalex Julian. Over the course of a few years, he worked the doors at Cain, Pink Elephant, Home, and Guest House before being brought on by Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum to open Tenjune. He tells us he’s one of maybe four doormen in the city who are in a position to negotiate their compensation (he gets a shift pay per night in addition to a percentage of table revenue) — part of the reason he’s now been manning the club’s doors for nearly two years.

Kobe Club, Pink Elephant Head for the Hamptons

Andrea Strong reports that Jeffrey Chodorow will open another Kobe Club, in East Hampton (our Kobe waiter did tell us to expect more locations…), and Oso Steakhouse will open in the Southampton Inn with chef Peter Dunlop. Down by the Hipster, meanwhile, has it that, in addition to returning to their current Southampton location, Pink Elephant partners David Sarner and Bobby Montwaid are taking over Stereo’s old space at Tavern, with Pavan and Shaun Rose as partners. It still isn’t clear whether Stereo or Tenjune will return to the scene this year — perhaps another Houston’s slap down will decide who gets to stake their claim.

Nightlife Honcho Steve Lewis Becomes a Blogger, Says Mansion Will Save Clubland

Steve Lewis jumps into the blogosphere.Photo: Courtesy of JoonBug.

At one point, club operator turned designer Steve Lewis was the guy to get if you were opening a new venue. We’ve been wondering what happened to him ever since he worked on Amalia, but now he has resurfaced as — what else? — a blogger! We’re not going to lie: His interview with the owners of Mansion is silly shilly (“New York needs Mansion just as we need Alex Rodriguez, Johan Santana, and Lincoln Center”) and includes a lot of familiar bellyaching about the state of nightlife (promoters, bottle service, and bankers turned owners have hijacked the business; every club in the last six years has been a knockoff; there’s no personal service anymore), but we got a kick out of Miami-based Mansion partner Eric Milon’s dismissive survey of his competition.

Jennifer Garner Likes the Food at Fiamma More than Padma Did

Jennifer Garner cooks?Photo: Getty Images

The week’s most exciting celebrity sighting was that of beer-sippin’ McLovin at Diner. No other celebs were busted getting their underage drink on, but there were other surprises: Rachael Ray rolled into the Orchard with a posse bigger than Diddy’s, and Jennifer Garner liked the food at Fiamma so much she slipped into the kitchen to beg Fabio Trabocchi for recipes. We figure that makes up for supposedly getting dissed by Padma Lakshmi a couple weeks ago. (And yes, there a Padma sighting this week, too…)

Every Friday a notable New Yorker tells us where they’ve been eating, but where are the rest of them chowing down? Starting this week we’ll sort through the gossip columns à la Ils Vont (RIP) to tell you who’s been seen where (casual sightings only — boring galas, vodka launches, and pluggy appearances don’t count). We’ll eventually compile a ranking of restaurants most often visited by celebs. Not that you care about that sort of thing! Oh, but if you do, won’t you please leave your own sightings in the comments?

Roller-Skating May Return to the Roxy, Crobar Takeover Looking Likely

News cameras galore may have been trained on Ivan Kane’s appearance at last night’s contentious CB2 meeting, but uptown an equally compelling drama unfolded as CB4’s business committee pondered the liquor-license renewals of the Roxy, Pacha, Crobar and Pink Elephant, and Sol — oh, just about every megaclub in the city!
