Natasha Bedingfield Meets Spencer and Heidi at Kobe Club

"The Spotted Pig has incredible food."Photo: Melissa Hom

On the week of the release of her new video “Pocketful of Sunshine” (also the title of her new album) and the announcement of U.S. tour dates today (she plays Irving Plaza on June 25), London songstress Natasha Bedingfield flew into town and headed straight to (where else?) Rose Bar. Chances are she didn’t bat an eye at the $20 drinks. Her hometown is the most expensive city to eat in, but she says she doesn’t notice any price difference compared to New York. “I tend to spend a lot on food anyway,” she tells us. “I stay in hotels, where the food is always expensive. I never really look at the price of something before I buy it unless it’s wine. You can waste a lot on wine.” We asked her where and how she spent so freely.

Rose Bar Blossoms With Beautiful Women; Pizza Prices Rise in Bensonhurst

Bensonhurst: L&B Spumoni Gardens has upped its slice price (for Sicilian and regular pieces) to $2.25. [Slice]
Gramercy: According to this poll, which attracted a whopping 195 voters, the Rose Bar has the best-looking female clientele in NYC (as compared with six other nightclubs). Sadly, no one answered our call to add Lucky Cheng's to the list. [Down by the Hipster]
Lower East Side: Broadway East has a simple recipe for cooking spring's first pea shoots, available now at the Greenmarket. [Bottomless Dish/Citysearch]
Red Hook: The former 360 space is up for rent. [Eater]
Tribeca: Chambers Street Wines has lured 22 "natural" winemakers (who are either organic and/or sustainable) to Cercle Rouge this Saturday for an afternoon tasting. Show up with $5 for a tasting glass, which you can even keep when all is drunk and done. [Grub Street]
Upper West Side: A new trattoria called Campo, from Nonna owner Jeremy Wladis, opens today on Broadway between 112th and 113th Streets and will serve grilled pizzas from Gonzo alum David Rotter. [Strong Buzz]

Vote for the Hottest Cook and the Hottest Crowd

We'll take Bobby, every time.Photo: Patrick McMullan

In a move somewhat reminiscent of the Daily News poll that prompted Johnny Iuzzini to plead for votes, Nerve has launched “Who Would You Rather: Celebrity Chef Edition.” The pickings are slim — and we don’t mean slim in the svelte, sexy way. We mean: Gordon Ramsay vs. Bobby Flay. Flay contributed a recipe to the author’s cookbook, which explains that. But Gordo? We’re more interested in Down by the Hipster's poll asking which local watering spot pulls the most attractive women. At the time of this post, Rose Bar is inching in front of GoldBar and Beatrice. Strangely, Lucky Cheng’s isn’t even on the list…

Befriend Nur Khan If You Want to Get Into Rose Bar

Today, Steve Lewis sits down with Rose Bar creative director Nur Khan, formerly of Wax, Sway, and Hiro. If you’ve ever been turned away by Damian the doorman (we hear even the D.J.'s are only allowed two guests while they spin), now you’ll know why: Khan says that at any given time, he knows 90 percent of people in the room, which he loves like a child. So how does he deal with those pesky non-celeb hotel guests?

LeBron James and Anna Wintour Cozy Up at Waverly; Moby Makes Out at R Bar

We weren’t surprised to read in "Page Six" today that Anna Wintour dined with LeBron James at the Waverly Inn. We passed their table on Tuesday, and when the ceilings are that low, it’s impossible to miss a six-foot-eight baller extracting himself from the center of a corner booth. James was patiently sitting next to the bathroom when we emerged, causing our waiter to remark, “You made LeBron James wait!” We couldn’t tell whether he was chastising us or congratulating us for no doubt costing the man a Benjamin of his time, but either way we felt a sense of accomplishment unknown since Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand queued up behind us at the Spotted Pig. The rest of this week’s sightings are heavy on the PDA.

Dave Chappelle Tiffs With the Wife at Coffee Shop, ‘Entourage’-ers Talk Movie at 1 Oak?

This week’s juiciest bit of celeb-sighting gossip was, of course, the Post’s report that after a performer dumped a drink on Demi and Ashton, Box honcho Simon Hammerstein sent an e-mail to his partner and a GM saying, “I can’t stand those two” — apparently because they’re “so far up their own arses” and “don’t spend anything” — “and I applaud whoever spilt a drink on them.” We’re thinking Kid Rock got kinder treatment when he went to Southern Hospitality, or there would’ve been a Tommy Lee–style throwdown.

Meatpacking Moguls Remm, Birnbaum, and Rabin on How to Be Cool

Tenjune!

Our fave waitress Courtney Yates isn’t the only face Belvedere Vodka is using to try to look cool — the company, in association with UrbanDaddy, is running Web interviews with David Rabin, owner of Los Dados and Lotus, and Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum, owners of Tenjune. Remm and Birnbaum don’t exactly steer toward the underexposed when asked for their favorite restaurants: BondSt, Nobu, Bar Pitti, Los Dados, Mr. Chow, the Spotted Pig, Pastis, Buddakan, Dos Caminos Soho, Cipriani, Butter, Rose Bar, and Waverly Inn.

Frankie Marshall of Wakiya Wouldn't Dare Replace Anna Wintour's Napkin

"We have excellent soup dumplings."Photo: Melissa Hom

Frankie Marshall was a bartender (and a singer) for years before she became a server at Wakiya in the Gramercy Park Hotel. And what a place to serve! She waited on Adam Platt before he panned the restaurant in New York, and Frank Bruni, who hit it off with her and quoted her making a racy “tung” joke in his takedown of the restaurant. Now that the reviewers have moved on, she’s left to serve folks like Ron Wood of the Stones, who let her feel his cashmere sweater. “Jimmy Fallon kissed me [good-bye],” she says. “I was hoping for tongue, but he wouldn’t deliver.” Anna Wintour, on the other hand? Not quite as friendly.

Tom and Gisele Lock Lips at Nobu, ‘Full House’ Cast and the B-52s Hit Bowery Hotel!?

Earlier this week we linked to a Daily News item claiming Padma Lakshmi rudely refused complimentary dishes from Fiamma’s chef. A commenter wrote, “I was at Fiamma the night Padma was dining there and it absolutely did NOT go down that way. When the dishes arrived at the table, she thanked them profusely and apologized for being too full to eat any of them!” Whatever happened, Padma was just one of many celebs to chow down (or at least show up) at local restaurants this week, and here’s our gossip-column compendium of just who went where.

Every Friday a notable New Yorker tells us where they’ve been eating, but where are the rest of them chowing down? Starting this week we’ll sort through the gossip columns à la Ils Vont (RIP) to tell you who’s been seen where (casual sightings only — boring galas, vodka launches, and pluggy appearances don’t count). We’ll eventually compile a ranking of restaurants most often visited by celebs. Not that you care about that sort of thing! Oh, but if you do, won’t you please leave your own sightings in the comments?

It's a proud day for bloggers everywhere as Danyelle “Restaurant Girl” Freeman has been installed as the restaurant critic for the Daily News. [Eater]
