FDA Unveils Disgusting Cigarette Warning Labels

After polling 18,000 lucky Americans on which images disgusted them the most, the FDA has released the nine warning labels that will grace the top half of cigarette packs starting in September 2012. In addition to what we’ll call “Sickly Mouth” at the left, there’s the classic “Gooey Lung,” the jarring “My Throat Also Has a Mouth,” and the subtle “Dead Person.” There’s no doubt that these will be effective at deterring smokers, but, we don’t know … helping people live longer, healthier lives? Isn’t that something that European governments do? Surely this sets us on a slippery slope to being warned about all kinds of things that will probably kill us.
