Why should John Edwards be president? Because he's always looking out for the little guy, that's why. In an interview with the Associated Press this week, Edwards explained that his work for now–publicly traded hedge fund Fortress Investment Group between election cycles was motivated by a desire to understand financial markets and their relationship to poverty. The lengths the man is prepared to go to in hopes of solving the intractable problems of the world's poor! Seriously, if he hadn't actually said it, it might have made for a good story in The Onion. Or how about this headline: "Area Candidate Gets $400 Haircut, Vows to Eradicate Poverty?" —Duff McDonald
