Which towheaded power couple used their formidable PR skills to get an unflattering story killed in the latest issue of GQ? Bill and Hillary Clinton, that's who! At least according to Politico.com, which today reported that the magazine killed a story about infighting in the Hillary campaign to gain access to Big Bill, who apparently they want to name Man of the Year. GQ "describes itself as the definitive guide to fashion and grooming," Politico's Ben Smith informs its readers in a way that sounds kind of bitchy to GQ, we thought. "Clintons aides pulled a page from the book of Hollywood publicists and offered GQ a stark choice: Kill the piece, or lose access to planned celebrity coverboy Bill Clinton," Smith writes. Stark! Scandalous! To which GQ is like, yeah yeah yeah. "We kill pieces all the time for a variety of reasons," editor Jim Nelson e-mails wearily. If only Smith knew the real truth: In exchange for quashing the previous story, the Clintons offered them exclusive photo rights to Hillary's Story: My Personal Plastic-Surgery Nightmare!!!! (Oh, KIDDING.)
