Somewhat hilariously, the Post does not identify which Lauren is pictured at the top of their item today about how Lauren Davis, socialite Vogue contributor, is often confused with Lauren Davis, socialite publicist. But maybe this is less of a mistake than a statement, because after some cursory research, it's clear that Lauren Davis and Lauren Davis are not really so different at all: They are roughly the same age (31ish). They are both rich. They are both thin. They are both socialites who "work" in fashion. They are both frequently written about in Vogue. One — or maybe both? — of them was rumored to have hired a private detective to uncover who was writing Socialite Rank this year. But they like, it appears, to be seen as different people.
Pedigree
Lauren Davis Flack: Is the heiress to the Poland Spring fortune.
Lauren Davis Vogue: Unknown, but she's marrying Columbian billionaire Andres Santo Domingo in January, so who cares?
Occupation
Lauren Davis Flack: Used to work PR for J. Mendel, now works for the Krupp Group, a public-relations firm specializing in luxury fashion and accessories. (Not to be confused with the group tried for war crimes in Germany.)
Lauren Davis Vogue: In addition to being a "contributing editor" to the magazine, LDV is an "adviser" at TSM Capital, Marvin Traub–run firm that has been investing in your designers. She is also in those Lord and Taylor ads currently in running in Vanity Fair.
Life Philosophy
Lauren Davis Flack: "Doesn't consider herself a publicist," according to the Observer, she prefers to describe herself as a "young girl who is out and about and loves fashion and really believes in her products."
Lauren Davis Vogue: "ALWAYS remember the finishing touches. Hair back, a good clutch, and tasteful diamonds spell E-V-E-N-I-N-G. Hair down and a casual wrap says tonight will end at Bungalow 8."
