Tonight, developer Bruce Ratner is scheduled to receive an award from the Brooklyn Museum in recognition of his "community involvement, generous patronage of the arts, and outstanding contribution to the Museum," at a glittery, $1000-a-plate gala at the museum featuring a performance from Kanye West. Needless to say, opponents of his Atlantic Yards project are not happy that dude is being honored, particularly in light of Ratner's recent announcement that, due to the poor credit market, he'll be scuttling what many saw as the positive aspects of Atlantic Yards (affordable housing, shops, and offices) and instead just sticking to his plan to erect the hated, suburban-yahoo-drawing Nets stadium.
