Bedbugs Threaten Boerum Hill Bastille Day

  • 7/15/08 at 5:30 PM

Boerum Hill: Yesterday's Bastille Day celebration was spoiled for some participants by the paranoid, itchy fear that they might have bedbugs. [McBrooklyn]
Breezy Point: A Times reporter and photog were first shooed away and then given one hour to interview people in this insular, security-guard-ed Irish-American beach community in Queens. The story is about a Belgian company buying Anheuser-Busch, which makes Budweiser, apparently drunk here more than anywhere else. [NYT]
Carroll Gardens: Shooting for The Real World may be moving from the new (but not completed enough to accommodate a cast) Belltel Lofts downtown to a six-story walk-up here. Filming equipment has been moved here, apparently. [Real Deal]

Long Island City: The famous Pepsi sign, which was moved from the top of the old bottling plant to the ground in 2004, will move again next week, a couple of hundred yards north, so as not to block the view from a new condo called, uh, the View. [Fine Blog via Queens Crap]
Lower Manhattan: André Balazs is trying to sell out the units in his Beaver House by offering Beaver Butler, which lets you monitor your crib while away, via an "in-residence camera" that feeds into your computer. [NYO]
Staten Island: Okay, once again, no hood to tag this to, but you must know about this very strange (but kind of cool!) collection of lion and tiger statues, decked out in various ethnic and vocational themes, dotting Saten Island. Real-estate lion! Nurse tiger! Liberian lion! (What?) [Curbed]
Upper East Side: The company that owns the crane that fell and killed two construction workers in May (as well as the midtown crane that fell in March) refuses to turn over papers related to its maintenance unless the information is kept from the public. [NYS]
