Hillary Clinton’s official press combatant Howard Wolfson, her communications director turned strategist, has gone to the dark side. He’s joining the press. And Fox News, no less! Wolfson yesterday confirmed that he will be an analyst for the cable network. From the Times:

I thought that Fox’s coverage during the primary was comprehensive and fair and evenhanded,” Mr. Wolfson said Monday in a telephone interview from Liverpool, England, where he was vacationing. “It’s a huge audience, and it is important to have a strong, progressive voice on the network.”

Wolfson will continue to be a partner at the Washington consulting firm Glover Park Group, but he’ll start at Fox as early as this week. The move seems to reflect a sentiment from among Clintonites that the network was fairer to Hillary than any other outlet.

The guy is very smart,” said fellow Fox News analyst Karl Rove. “He strikes me as a very able guy and surprisingly pleasant and amiable.” Rove added that he was impressed with the “Clinton attack machine.” “I always admire a passionate advocate,” Bush’s brain explained.

No matter how much they’re paying Wolfson, earning admiration from Karl Rove has to make any Democrat queasy. Welcome to Fox News, Howie!
