Ex-New York Yankees skipper Joe Torre will soon get a job offer from the guys behind Fox’s forthcoming Family Guy spinoff, The Cleveland Show. “We wrote Joe Torre into the pilot script — he doesn’t know this yet,” executive producer Rich Appel told a Daily Intel spy in Los Angeles this week. “In the pilot, Cleveland Brown [a neighbor of the Griffin family] is moving from Rhode Island out to California to be a minor-league scout for Joe Torre, but he stops off in his hometown in Virginia along the way — whether or not he makes it out to California to be a talent scout is another question — but that’s his lure to leave, so Joe Torre would appear on a split-screen from California. Hopefully, we can get him.” The Cleveland Show is set to debut on Fox (also home to the World Series) in 2009 — let's hope Joe still has his day job then. —Matt Sullivan
