Bailout Deal ‘Fundamentally’ Agreed Upon

  • 9/25/08 at 2:00 PM

After a three-hour bipartisan meeting today, a bailout plan was approved to address the current economic crisis. "We believe we are prepared to act expeditiously on a package … and send a message to the markets," said Banking Committee chairman Chris Dodd. The agreement is currently being put into legislative wording and is expected to reach the president's desk in a few days. More surprising, though, is the fact that they managed to do it without the help of John McCain, who was in New York this morning addressing the Clinton Global Initiative. [Politico]
