Leighton Meester, a.k.a. Half of the Reason We Watch Gossip Girl, reportedly has an interesting new real life story to tell. She was born in a prison halfway house in Texas to a mother who was serving a federal sentence for her participation in a major drug-running ring. That's what Star is reporting, anyway. (For what it's worth, Leighton herself told us she was from Marco Island, Florida, so we're going to hold off on judgment until we hear from her reps.) According to the celebrity weekly, Leighton's dad, granddad, and aunt have all done time in federal prisons for drug dealing.

OMG! And to think we totally made a joke about Blair shiv-ing someone on the show just this morning. If this turns out to be true, we're going to love her even more for it. It can only do more things for her fame. Having gone good from a checkered family background is like, the best college-essay (slash E! True Hollywood Story) material ever. Nothing can stop her now!
