The Forbes 400 list was released this week (slightly inopportune timing, perhaps), and it turns out that even though Wall Street is imploding, our fair city still plays host to 64 of America's 400 richest people. That's 16 percent! Kind of seems like it should be higher, right? Anyway, the biggest hometown news is that the magazine valued Mayor Bloomberg's holdings and stake in Bloomberg LP at $20 billion. That's about $8 billion more than he was worth last year, and nearly $4 billion more than was estimated at just this summer. He's in the top ten now. Go Bloomie, go Bloomie, go Bloomie, GO!

Here are the top New Yorkers, organized by their rank on the list (the numbers after their names are how many billions they are worth, and after that is the field in which they made their money. You may recognize some of the names.
