Obama Campaign Gets Biden Back in Line Over Ads

Last night on the CBS Evening News, Joe Biden called an Obama campaign ad "terrible." It was a spot run in response to McCain's feisty attack ads from the late summer, and it depicted McCain as a doddering old relic who didn't know how to use a computer and doesn't "understand the economy." This morning the Obama campaign issued a statement from Biden, who later said he had never actually seen the ad, in an attempt to take back the sentiment. "Having now reviewed the ad, it is even more clear to me that given the disgraceful tenor of Senator McCain's ads and their persistent falsehoods, his campaign is in no position to criticize," Biden said. "Especially when they continue to distort Barack's votes on an issue as personal as keeping kids safe from sexual predators." Mmm, except this time it wasn't the McCain campaign criticizing Obama's tactics, it was Biden himself. Ouch. [AP]
