Last night Daily Intel favorite Anne Hathaway made some big disclosures while on the Late Show with David Letterman. “I can’t believe I’m saying this out loud to everyone, but I quit smoking,” Hathaway confirmed at the top of her interview segment. “I was a secret smoker for a while.” Hathaway attributed the habit to her work on the movie Rachel Getting Married and her “stressful summer.” Then, Dave quickly went on to press her about exactly why the summer was so stressful. He asked her about her jailed ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, who pleaded guilty this month to fourteen counts of money laundering, fraud, and conspiracy relating to his real-estate ventures. “As far as relationships crashing and burning goes, come on, I did pretty great,” the Princess Diaries star cracked. “I mean, scorch that earth!” Hathaway also revealed that she had actually broken up with Follieri before he was arrested, but was still speaking with him. Gawker has taken Hathaway to task for getting “testy” over the questioning. But we thought she was surprisingly good-natured about it — imagine if your beloved boyfriend of four years turned out to be a dreadful con man, and then a stranger asked you about it on national television.
