With the Atlantic Yards project being pushed back further and further, it looks like the Nets owner is willing to cut his losses. According to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, he's already spoken to two groups — one of Russian oil tycoons, another from Dubai — about selling the team and handing over control (to use the word loosely) of the Brooklyn project. Not so fast, though: NBA commissioner David Stern says they were only hearing these offers when "oil was $140 a barrel." Who knows how this will affect a new arena for the Nets, but as best we can tell, it at least means the prospects of LeBron James playing in New York may somehow now be tied to the price of crude oil.
