We ran into several Jews at the Project A.L.S. Benefit Gala this week. A few of them were even old — the perfect people to ask about Sarah Silverman's "Great Schlep," her plan for Jewish grandkids to urge their grandparents in Florida to vote for Obama. Matthew Broderick was skeptical: "I don’t know how you can convince an old person in Florida about anything." But when we complained to Silverman that our friend signed up for the Schlep but never got a response, she wasn't having it. "Why doesn’t he just go to fucking Florida?" she steamed.
