You'd like to think that the air in Astoria is redolent of moussaka and pastitsio. But sadly, a bunch of residents say that the longtime, on-again, off-again smell from the Bowery Bay sewage facility is hitting a record high, and they're finding vivid ways to describe it. "It smells like a thousand dogs have done their business in your yard," says one local. And then when the DEP says a new, non-smelly facility will be up by 2012, even NY1 joins in the pun fun: "Residents say they won't be holding their breath."
