Today Was a Medium Day on Wall Street

And in these times, medium = awesome. Bank shares held strong today after the government promised that hot cash injection yesterday. Stocks for Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, and Merrill Lynch gained over 20 percent, with Bank of America trailing slightly behind at 16 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 76 points down from the open, after a 360-point surge at the beginning of the day. In Asia, the Nikkei soared 14 percent after yesterday's U.S. rally, helping float other markets in the region. Meanwhile, Iceland is still totally effed. Vacation to Reykjavik, anyone? [NYT]
