Citing safety reasons, the city is closing Soundview Marina up in the Bronx. For years it has been the home of the Point Yacht Club, which working-class folks up there use for all manner of festivities, including (according to legend) the making of babies. It's not clear yet if the city will let the club reopen or use the marina for some other purpose. But clubgoers are very miffed. "We are poor people," said the wife of the club's commodore.
