"I am as pathetic a writer as any. That’s why I was hoping for a good review of my book in the New York Times today," Michael Wolff writes of Janet Maslin's review of his Rupert Murdoch biography, The Man Who Owns the News. Alas: "[S]upercilious yet star-struck," "gossipy if not penetrating," and "'written in the irresistible style that only an award-winning columnist for Vanity Fair can deliver,' according to its jacket copy" were what he got. Why did she hate it? According to Wolff: The "NYT Hates Rupe (and Me)." [Off the Grid/Newser, NYT]
