Bernie Goes Bulletproof

Ponzi-schemer Bernie Madoff showed up to court today in a snazzy new vest, one that will protect him from bullets, but not from the harsh words of prosecutors who want to jail him for mailing more than $1 million in watches, jewelry, and valuables to relatives last month. “The defendant should not be trusted with a second chance to dissipate assets,” the acting United States attorney in Manhattan said yesterday. Madoff's lawyers countered by calling such statements "inflammatory" and "cynical." Look, he's just a sweet old man! [WSJ]
