Bill Richardson Withdraws As Commerce Secretary

Over the weekend, because of lingering questions in a grand-jury investigation in New Mexico, governor Bill Richardson stepped down as Barack Obama's nominee for Commerce secretary. Richardson, whose state administration is under scrutiny for giving a state contract to a firm that donated to his campaigns, worried that the proceedings would delay a confirmation process.
