Clinton Gets the Okay From the Senate Foreign Relations Committee

As was expected, Hillary Clinton easily breezed through her confirmation hearing with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, setting the stage for an equally unsuspenseful vote in the full Senate next week. The lone dissenter in this morning’s 16–1 vote was Louisiana Republican David Vitter, who characterized Bill Clinton’s charitable work as a “multimillion dollar minefield of conflicts of interest.” Vitter, you may recall, had called on President Clinton to resign during the Lewinsky scandal, only to be outed later on by Hustler as a client of the “D.C. Madam.” In other words, don’t let that vote weigh on you, Hillary. [Bloomberg]
