Republicans Pretty Happy About Kirsten Gillibrand

A new poll out today shows that New York Republicans favor the selection of Kirsten Gillibrand by 56 percent to 27 percent, while Democrats are less enthusiastic in their approval, 41 to 35 percent. Which is not such a shock, considering that, as New York's most conservative Democratic congressperson, Gillibrand was the best Republicans could really hope for. What is a little surprising is that only 55 percent of upstaters support Gillibrand's appointment. Hardly the dancing in the streets David Paterson was hoping for. [Hill]
