The People Who Went in Coney Water Yesterday Are Not Real People
A few notes on the Polar Bears, those people who go for a dip (for charity) at Coney Island every New Year's Day, including yesterday, when the weather was in the teens: 1. They seem like the perfect mix of old-wave All in the Family walk-ons and new-wave irono-hipsters, which kind of makes us want to be their friends. 2. There are several sexy people in this crowd, of both gender persuasions. 3. They are not human. They are droids. And we know this because when we took our mittens off yesterday for 90 seconds to have a cigarette, our index finger fell off, while these people who got nearly naked and went swimming are all reportedly still alive.
