At first glance, President Obama's evil-genius plan to tap New Hampshire Republican Judd Gregg as Commerce secretary seemed like it would give Senate Democrats a filibusterproof 60-seat majority, since governor John Lynch, a Dem, would pick his replacement. But dreams of wanton taxing, forced gay marriages, and the banning of religion will probably have to wait, as signs are that Governor Lynch will choose another Republican to act as a placeholder until the 2010 elections. Looks like we have a new pooper of the party. [Fix/WP, First Read/MSNBC]
