How Can Artist Possibly Make Art Without Gold Bars?!?!

Okay, we're officially annoyed by this little story that's been making the rounds—and today appeared in "Page Six"—about Gagosian artist Chris Burden, who has, tragically, been forced to postpone an upcoming opening because he can't get the $3 million worth of gold bricks he needs for an installation, since he bought them from mustachioed fraudster Allen Stanford, whose assets have been frozen by the SEC. Honestly. For the love of Vikram Pandit, everyone needs gold bars right now. Burden doesn't seem to get that he has the advantage: He's an artist. He can make them out of papier mâché. There. Problem solved. [NYP]
