Peter Madoff Can’t Even Afford to Take the Subway, Says Lawyer

A judge today denied Peter Madoff's request to unfreeze his assets, despite this touching plea from his lawyer: "My client can't spend a dime, he can't take a subway ride, he can't buy a loaf of bread, pay his attorneys," attorney Charles Spada, who is apparently working out of the goodness of his heart, told the court. "I don't know that he can afford a MetroCard." Especially not at the new price. [Bloomberg]
