From the Daily Intel mailbag today came this telling sighting of Gossip Girl's star-crossed lovers Penn Badgley and Blake Lively, a.k.a. Dan Humphrey and Serena van der Woodsen:

"Yesterday we were at Whole Foods on the Bowery at around four and, in addition to saggy-panted J.D. Sampson from Le Tigre in the produce room, there were Blake and Penn, shopping just like they subsist also on human food! Two observations: He had what I thought was a birthmark on the side of his neck, but it might have been a hickey. At first I thought it was a neck tattoo, which seemed odd. She was wearing tights."

Readers: We have taken this information into the Gossip Girl Situation Room, examined Penn Badgley's neck from various angles, and can safely assert that he has neither a neck tattoo nor a birthmark. Verdict: Hickey!
