Did You Just Move to New York? (Updated)

We remember the first thing that happened when we moved to New York. It was August, and we stepped out of the subway all sweaty and disheveled and carrying a massive bag of stuff that had looked like a lot less when we’d said to the movers that we’d take care of it. We looked around to orient ourselves, and then, suddenly, felt the scuttling of tiny claws across our flip-flop. “ARRGHHHHHH,” we screamed. “RAT! RAT!” But everyone on the street just looked at us, like, So?

If you recently moved to New York, something similar has probably happened to you, and who better to commiserate about it with than your fellow arrivistes? New York Magazine is holding a group photo shoot of recent arrivals to New York City this Friday, and we’re looking for people who moved here in the past six months to participate. The shoot will run from approximately 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. If you or someone you know is interested and available, e-mail arrivalsnyc@gmail.com. Please include your cell phone number, age, and when you moved to New York City. As we see it, this could be a great way to make new friends, and could maybe even be your big break! Anyway, you just moved here. It’s not like you have other plans.

Update: We’ve had a great response so far… but we’re still looking for more people, so please send us your info. As an extra incentive, there will be free beer and pizza at the shoot.
