Obama Asks Cabinet to Trim $100 Million, a.k.a. Nothing

President Obama convened his Cabinet for the first time today to ask his department heads for a combined $100 million in cost-cutting savings. That sounds like a lot of money, until you compare it to the $1.2 trillion deficit that Obama's budget forecasts, and then it seems more like taking a piss in the ocean. Still, having an extra $100 million to work with never hurts, and various agencies have already sprung into action. Like Homeland Security, which estimates it can save over $50 million by buying office supplies in bulk meaning, basically, that the people responsible for protecting the country from terrorism just figured out why everyone has been shopping at Costco all these years.
