Obama Family TV Habits: Sadly, Just Like Yours

Throughout the campaign, President Obama used to schedule events and conference calls around new episodes of Entourage, his favorite TV show. Now that he works in the White House with chief of staff Rahm Emanuel (whose brother Ari serves as the inspiration for show star Jeremy Piven’s character), Politico reports, he still watches. He also catches a lot of sports, and enjoys Wire reruns. (His favorite character is gay thief Omar, who robs drug dealers and gives to the poor. But “[t]hat’s not an endorsement,” the president said last year. “He’s not my favorite person, but he’s a fascinating character.”) Also, he and Michelle sit through their fair share of Hannah Montana and SpongeBob SquarePants.

According to the website, the president doesn’t watch news programs, though he did excitedly tune in to see the Jon Stewart–Jim Cramer smackdown, just like us! The rest of the White House TVs are apparently tuned in to MSNBC, which is probably not what CNN wants to hear, but exactly what Fox News wanted to hear. Michelle Obama, for her part, doesn’t much enjoy sports, but likes sitcoms and other upbeat shows. But tragically, the Politico story on the Obama family viewing habits doesn’t answer the question that’s been on all of our minds for three weeks now. Does he or does he not watch Gossip Girl??
