Nightmare on West 84th Street

Public School 9 on the Upper West Side accidentally misplaced tests taken by 60 pre-kindergartners and kindergartners for the city’s Gifted and Talented programs, and parents are furious. How could the school do such a thing? Apparently because the people working there aren’t exactly gifted and talented, some parents are sniping: “My understanding is [that the Department of Education] has taken the gifted and talented program and the administration of the program out of the schools’ hands because the D.O.E. wants to make sure we don’t have mistakes and problems,” one father told the Times. “Our kids are four years old, and one thing we know is that our kids, who lose things all the time, did not lose these results.” Snap.
