Newspapers Collude to Save Themselves

Newspaper reps from around the country met in Chicago today for a (no longer) secret meeting set up by the Newspaper Association of America on "Models to Monetize Content." Everyone’s there! Hearst, the Times, the AP, McClatchy, etc. James Warren of theatlantic.com wishes that the Force be with the newspapers, while Gawker points out that a collective decision “could easily be construed as illegal.” So this is either the beginning or the end of a very long struggle toward making you pay for online content, in some form.
